3 Day 2 Night Hong Kong Food trip.
Our objective was to eat eat and eat.
We will go around trying 3 famous roasted goose, 3 famous egg tarts, 3 famous wanton mee.
Sounds boring but we are going to find out which is the best! hehe.
DAY ONE.
Very happy lady because it was a fully sponsored trip by the man.
We got a good deal!
$50+ return ticket from Jetstar sale.
But need to fly in the wee hours. haha.
Mr Jake's free luggage from Citibank.
Nice colour!
Only brought a small backpack, power.
He forgot to bring his jacket when HK weather can go as low as 9 degree!
Many thanks to Del who lend him a thick jacket, luckily his house was otw to airport. :)
Top-notch Changi airport, view from the washroom!
Tried to sleep on the plane but cant really sleep well.
So tired!
Touched down at 5+am, breakfast at HK airport.
HK style Mac's.
Pretty blend tough. haha.
Headed to the bus terminal just outside the airport.
Taking this to our hotel in Jordon area.
On the big bus, nap all the way.
Woke up halfway and saw this view :)
Wanted to check in early but there was no available rooms yet.
so we left our luggage there and headed out to hunt for food.
MTR to Central!
The nearest station to the food we wanted to try on day 1.
Tireddd.
First stop for Egg Tart.
Honolulu Coffee Shop.
33 Stanley Street, Central, Hong Kong
The crust is puffy, egg is shaky.
It was served warm.
Not bad, but I prefer he crust to be more buttery.
We rated this Number 3 out of the 3 egg tarts from our findings.
I look like shit in this photo my hair is in bad shape from the sleep.
I just wanted to show the layout of the coffeeshop in the background.
Though it's called coffeeshop,
but still looked like Cha Can Ting, a spacious version.
We tuuu for a while at Honululu until it's 11am.
So that we can go to Yat Lok Roast goose.
the meat is only ready at 11am.
First stop for Roast Goose.
Yat Lok Restaurant.
28 Stanley Street, Central
Looks like a very ordinary eatery with nothing much to offer,
but don't play play,
it's a Michelin starred restaurant!
The shop owners were very friendly.
We ordered a roast goose rice and added a roast goose drumstick to share.
omg in love again!
I wished I had the stomach space and time to eat one more time.
Will be back if we are in HK.
We rated this Number 1 roast goose from our findings.
Serious man tasting it.
juicy and tender meat.
Breast meat is definitely better than the drumstick haha.
We realised roast goose is in no way similar to Chicken meat,
because chicken drumstick is better right!
Almost 75% full.
We headed to our First stop for Wanton Mee.
Mak's Noodle.
77 Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong.
It's all within walking distance!
So we ate non stop hoho.
It's really Mai "bu da" de noodles.
So small portion!
not big what, but still must share. lol.
A little pricey for a small bowl like that. SGD5-6.
I don't really like this, the noodles tasted starchy.
U know the after taste that yellow mee always have.
I don't like.
Rate 3rd out of the 3 from our findings.
Now 95% full.
Headed to Second stop for Egg Tart.
Cannot resist trying because it is just so near!
Tai Cheong Bakery.
35 Lydhurst Terrace, Central, Hong Kong
Got long queue right after we buy.
Piping hot!
The egg is not as shaky as Honolulu's, but smells nicer.
Crust is also more buttery.
We rated this 2nd.
Okay, now we are 110% bloated.
No more eating.
Headed back to hotel to have afternoon nap.
Wah sounds like pig.
Woke up, time to eat again!
Dinner wasn't in our plan.
It's because my curious boy went to do more research in the hotel,
he wondered if HK braised goose taste as good as that in Taiwan.
Hung's Delicacies
Shop 4, G/F, Ngan Fai Building, 84-94 Wharf Road, North Point.
Nearest MTR station: North Point
So here we are, another Michelin starred restaurant , need to queue.
It's Teochew braised style!
Yummy, juicy and tender!
But we prefer the one in Taiwan :)
HK is still more famous for roast goose instead of braised goose.
But this is definitely worth a try!
Abit fat to my liking.
After dinner, we took MTR to Causeway Bay station.
Shopped for Hen Xiang Lao Po Bing at Sogo.
Hanged around for a while before we headed for Supper later in the night.
Second Stop for Wanton Noodle.
Ho Hung Kee
1204-1205 Hysan Place, 500 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay.
Very nice interior!
It's another Michelin Starred restaurant.
We tried 3 in a day! :D
Bigger portion than Mak's.
Noodle was Q, and less starchy aftertaste.
Rated 2nd out of the 3 from our findings!
Yummy Ji Cheong Fun.
The prawn so big!
Like like.
DAY TWO.
Got up slightly later and went out for lunch.
Second stop for roast goose.
The famous Yung Kee.
32-40 Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong
Meat was tougher than what Yat Lok serve.
and more expensive.
Rated 3rd out of the 3.
Very atas restaurant though, which explains the price.
like palace hor. lol
Walked over to the last stop for Wanton Mee.
Tsim Chai Kee
98 Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong.
Big portion and cheapest.
Most importantly, no starchy aftertaste, noodle was Q, soup was nice, and huge wanton!
I took 3-4 bites to finish one wanton.
Our number 1. :D
Went back hotel to nua.
Took photo in the walkway, room was too small.
But way better than the shoe box hostel we stayed during the last visit.
Just before dinner, we went to hunt for our Third stop for Egg Tart.
It's Chow Yun Fatt's favourite egg tart!
Hoover Cake Shop
136 Nga Tsin Road, Kowloon City, Hong Kong.
Nearest MTR: Kowloon Tong
Then take mini bus 25M from Kowloon Tong MTR
Can ask the driver where to alight, it's about 15-20 mins ride.
It's quite far from MRT.
But Kowloon area has such a nostalgic vibe.
Very different from the usual places we go.
So this is the flaky egg tart!
Egg and crust is slightly better than Tai Cheong's, buttery but not so buttery.
Overall We liked this better.
So it's our number 1 out of the 3 findings. :D
Too bad it's quite inconvenient to go leh.
Took a cab to Mong Kok.
The plan is to have dinner at the third stop for roast goose.
Thereafter, I can shop at Argyle Centre! :D
Sham Tseng Chan Kee
427-427A Reclamation Street, Mong Kok, Hong Kong
Meat was slightly more tender than Yung Kee's,
but the skin was nothing comparable to Yat Lok.
Rate 2nd!
Not very hungry but still eat.
End up super bloated omg!
Went to shop around to aid the digestion abit.
but we had some street food too.
Smelly toufu and spicy fishball.
Eat until we cry haha.
Headed to Temple street to take a look.
Walking distance from our hotel,
We spent our last bucks on some Pattaya BBQ food lol.
Yummy!
Only to find out the money changes has closed -.-
No choice, went to withdraw money from ATM for our transport to airport.
Went back to wash up and rested for a while before heading to the airport.
Home sweet home!
